Abstract:

This review presentation discusses what are the likely impacts of globalization on Pakistan. It is also a preview of world monetary and financial institutions. This session basically underscores the villain-like role played by global financial agencies (like IMF, WTO, and MNCs, etc.) and hence presents a seamier side of globalization. Evolution of IMF and WB from the ashes of the 30’s depression, to act as economic regulators: The present agencies are a perverse replica of their erstwhile shape, Globalization regime, What is meant by the term plus WTO (GATT), Uragway Agreements, etc., What are the likely results of foreign trade liberalization (globalization) on Pakistan, Pakistan and South East Asia, Some dedications, How can we regulate globalization so that it may be a breeze, not a thunderstorm were discussed. At the end of the talk, some suggestions were also be heard from the audiences.
