Resident Astronomer Umair Asim’s photograph of the lunar landscape has been selected as the Lunar Photo of the Day, April 27, 2011. The image is a stunning closeup of the 236 km wide Sinus Iridium (Bay of Rainbows). The labeling and description of the photograph brings the moon closer to our flights of imagination, lunched from earth into the vast expanse of the .universe.The photograph also adds Pakistan to the list of countries contributing to the public dissemination of educational material through astrophotography. APOD is viewed by millions of people around the world. It has sparked a wider interest in astronomy and the new understanding that comes with the beautiful images.
