Abstract:

The recently launched Public Lecture series themed “Pakistan k Khazanay” broke its ground with it’s first lecture, delivered by Dr. Uzma Khan, Asia Coordinator of River Dolphin Rivers Initiative by WWF Pakistan on May 22nd, 2023 at Crescent Model Higher Secondary School, Shadman, Lahore.

This lecture enlightened students, teachers, and the general public about the challenges faced by Asian river dolphins, particularly the Indus River Dolphin, and introduced a pioneering conservation strategy.

About the Speaker:

Dr Uzma Khan has been working in the field of wildlife conservation for over 20 years and holds a PhD in Animal Behaviour. She works with WWF and in Pakistan her work has been focused on endangered species recovery programmes and protected areas management. Her international experience includes working on endangered and critically endangered species of river dolphins in Asia. She has also worked at the policy level for zoos and legislative framework.
