Dr. Sajjad Ahmad is a Consultant at St Paul’s Eye Unit in Liverpool (UK) that has a well-established history in treating eye diseases (since 1871). Co-currently, he is also a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Department of Eye and Vision Science (University of Liverpool) which is one of the leading Eye Research Institutes in the UK. During his PhD, he worked in the field of stem cell biology. As part of PhD (completed in 2007) he developed a xeno-free culture method for human limbal stem cells and he was the first to differentiate human embryonic stem cells into the corneal epithelial lineage.
