


Birds of Pakistan – A webinar with Prof. Z. B. Mirza
On June 4, 2021, the Khwarizmi Science Society (KSS) hosted Prof. Z. B. Mirza (Senior Ornithologist, Conservationist, and Bird Artist) for a webinar on the Birds of Pakistan! The event was streamed live on our Facebook page. Prof. Z. B. Mirza (Prof. Zahid Baig Mirza) is the most experienced naturalist and ornithologist of Pakistan and has gained widespread international and national recognition for his dedicated work as a field scientist. To date, Prof. Mirza has authored over 60 research publications and 27 books including the widely acclaimed Field Guide to Birds of Pakistan and the Illustrated Handbook of Animal Biodiversity of Pakistan. Prof. Mirza is also a senior member of Islamabad Wildlife Management Board and Chair of its Scientific Committee, the Chairman of the Snow Leopard Foundation, Professional Consultant for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Management Plans of Pakistan, and an Executive Member of the WWF Scientific Council Pakistan. Prof. Mirza is the recipient of two Lifetime Achievement Awards and is also celebrated as one of the founding members of WWF, Pakistan and the First Director of the Pakistan Museum of Natural History (PMNH), Islamabad along with the awardee of numerous other accolades!

This webinar is a part of a series by KSS to celebrate the biodiversity in Pakistan and inform the general audience about the threats faced by some endangered fauna species, and the need to conserve them.

Episode 4 of MWST: Chemistry for a Healthy Planet with Dr. Hind Al-Abadleh
The 4th episode of Muslim Women in Science and Technology was an exploration ventured into fascinating as well as beautiful marriage between environmental sciences and chemistry with Dr. Hind Al-Abadleh. We at KSS were deeply honoured to be conversation with Dr. Hind on Wednesday, 16th September 2020. Dr. Hind is an academic scientist of chemistry and an award winning professor at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada. She is also currently the Chair of Environmental Division at Chemical Institute of Canada.

Lahore Science Mela 2019
The progression towards a more scientifically immersed community continues as the KSS plans to organize the third Science Mela in October, 2019, in collaboration with the Ali Institute of Education. Since 2019 is the International Year of Periodic Table, our Mela this year will be focused on the wonders of chemistry including elements, minerals, compounds, mining and major industrial processes

Lahore Science Mela 2018
The Lahore Science Mela 2018 is a science fest organized by the Khwarizmi Science Society. showcased inventions, discoveries, experiments, science models and artifacts recieved from all parts of Pakistan. It will be an opportunity to engage all citizens, especially the children in celebrating science. Our focus is on the wonder aspects of practical science accomplished through practical activities such as hands-on games and experiments that will appeal to our young boys and girls. There is no entry fee and the Mela will remain open for all citizens of Pakistan.
