From the incredible LHC Tunnel Demonstration of the World’s Largest Laboratory CERN, to the mind-bending Planetarium (Space Turtle), and the fascinating Observation of the Microworld, this Science Mela has something for everyone. The event will also feature captivating shows and projects from students.

Dr. Muhammad Sabieh Anwar presented an enlightening session on “Strategic communication inside and outside of Academia.” at the COMSTECH International Conference on “Science Communication and Community Engagement.”
He shared his wisdom and expertise on communicating effectively in academic and non-academic settings and emphasized that strategic communication is a skill that can be developed through practice. Dr. Sabieh highlighted the power of strategic communication in driving positive change and inspiring and influencing others. He also discussed the role of Science Festivals in making science accessible to the community and encouraging young minds to explore nature. In Dr. Sabieh’s words, “Science festivals can act as social glue.”
On February 2nd, 2023, the Pak Alliance for Maths and Science (PAMS) and the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT) organized a celebratory event to acknowledge the efforts of government schools in Islamabad that have embraced the STEAM-based pedagogy. Titled as the ‘STEAM Competition Awards Ceremony,’ the event was graced by the presence of hundreds of government school teachers and students. The Khwarizmi Science Society (KSS) was invited by PAMS to conduct two transformational teacher training workshops at the ceremony.

Dr Fakhar-i-Abbas is Professor of zoology and the Founder and Director of the Institute of Natural and Management Sciences. He is also the CEO of the Centre for Bioresource Research, and former Country Manager (for Pakistan) of the World Society for the Protection of Animals. He holds a PhD in zoology from the University of Punjab and has completed his postdoc at the Wright State University, USA. Dr Abbas has also authored a book on Animal Rights in Islam and as a truly passionate wildlife biologist, he has more than 20 years of experience in rehabilitation and conservation of wildlife animals.
