KSS’s Educational Tour to Orange Line Headquarters

Abstract:

The Khwarizmi Science Society (KSS) organised an educational tour to the Orange Line Headquarters. This tour offered participants a unique opportunity to explore the inner workings of Lahore’s first metro system and gain insights into its technological and operational complexities.

Total Participants: 31 Members of KSS, ranging from PhD scholars to School Students.

Tour Itinerary: Participants visited the following main points.

  • Detailed formal presentation at OCC Conference room
  • OCC Control Center
  • Simulator Room Visit
  • E&M Cultural Room Visit
  • Rolling Stock Parking Garage
  • Train Washing Area

With a warm welcome and a comprehensive presentation, the head office staff set the stage for an unforgettable experience. The presentation covered the history, infrastructure, and plans of the Orange Line. The representatives provided an in-depth yet accessible overview, breaking down complex technical details into digestible segments. An interactive Q&A session then followed with thoughtful responses from the representatives.

From the bustling operations room to the state-of-the-art training simulator, the participants later witnessed the intricate workings of this modern transportation system. The cultural museum, a testament to the Pakistan-China friendship, added a unique touch to the tour.

As the participants further explored the head office facilities, it became clear that the Orange Line is more than just a mode of transportation; it’s a symbol of progress and innovation. The dedication and expertise of the staff were evident at every step.

KSS’s visit was a valuable opportunity to learn about the technology, infrastructure, and challenges involved in operating a metro system. It was a day filled with discovery, inspiration, and a deep appreciation for the engineering marvel that is the Orange Line Metro.
