Abstract:

This seminar was conducted to familiarise the members with the Internet in general and special emphasis was laid upon the world wide web. In this lecture the emphasis was on what the internet as a whole is about and also the significance of the World Wide Web. Gist of the Seminar: It was also discussed that why the development of the WWW has resulted in a phenomenal growth in the usage of the Internet. In this particular lecture it was also discussed that what are the differences between standard network and the Internet. The following topics were covered in detail in this particular seminar:

  • The working of Domain Name Servers
  • Emailing and a little guidance about effective emailing
  • Cause and effect of the World Wide web
  • The development of the Internet from simple networks

  • General discussion on the Hyper-Text Transfer protocol
  • A general introduction of Gopher, Archie and Veronica
  • A introduction to the debate whether the Internet should be censored
