The Emerging Nations Science Foundation provides a grant of USD 3500 to KSS. This is its second grant to the KSS. Many thanks to Dr. Tahir Shah, President ENSF. The ENSF is aimed at promoting scientific and technological research among the emerging nations of Africa, the Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent, and Southeast Asia.
The grant will contribute to these goals.
- Registration of domain and shifting of web host that supports Content Management System Applications: Drupal and CiviCRM. The current website is supported by the ENSF.
- The year 2010 is the 50’th anniversary of the invention of the laser. We plan to hold two national symposiums on lasers, celebrating one of the greatest inventions of mankind. The first symposium has already taken place on 13th May 2010 at the Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology. Our speakers included Dr. Shaukat Hameed Khan, Dr. Masroor Ikram, Dr. Mumtaz Sheikh, and Dr. Fida Khattak. The second symposium will take place in November.
- Purchase and development of select scientific demonstration equipment such as lasers, laser projectors, laser spirographs, glass bulbs, motors, and diffraction gratings for laser shows.
- Development of scientific demonstration material and toys for example CD Spectroscope, water pumps, geometrical model construction, balancing toys, potato batteries, paper kite physics, balloon helicopters, jets, fountains and plungers, toothpick structures demonstrating mechanical stability, demonstrations on adhesion and surface tension and other ideas taken from http://www.arvindguptatoys.com/toys.html.
