Abstract:

On July 3, 2025, Khwarizmi Science Society, in collaboration with Chughtai Public Library, organized a special Microscopy Show featuring a digital inspection monocular stereo microscope donated by The Caterpillar Lab. The event introduced children to the fascinating world of microscopic science through an engaging live demonstration.

The microscope, previously used by insect specialists at The Caterpillar Lab in New Hampshire, made its first public appearance in Pakistan during this event. Its high-resolution display turned the library into an exciting learning space where children could observe details that are normally invisible to the naked eye.

During the session, participants explored the intricate features of insects, including jointed legs, patterned wings, and segmented bodies, all magnified clearly on a digital screen. For many children, this was their first encounter with the microscopic world, making the experience both educational and memorable.

One of the highlights of the activity was when children placed their own fingers under the microscope and saw their fingerprints enlarged in remarkable detail. The visible ridges, swirls, and patterns sparked excitement and curiosity, helping children connect scientific observation with their everyday lives.

This activity was more than just a demonstration; it was a meaningful step in inspiring scientific curiosity among young learners. By bringing advanced educational tools into community spaces, Khwarizmi Science Society continues to make science interactive, accessible, and exciting for children, encouraging discovery one observation at a time.
