Date: February 4, 2025 Time: 5 am to 7 pm Venue: City District Boys High School, Wahdat Road Abstract: Participants gathered at City District Boys High School, Lahore, for an exciting astronomy observation session, where they explored the wonders of the night sky through a range of advanced telescopes, with skilled demonstrators guiding them through the celestial observations. During the session, participants observed some of the most fascinating objects in the night sky, including the craters of the Moon, the fading rings of Saturn, the moons of Jupiter, and the bright planet Venus. These live observations provided attendees with a memorable opportunity to witness the beauty of the cosmos firsthand and experience the excitement of astronomical exploration. The observation activities were followed by engaging discussions, where participants asked questions and learned more about the celestial bodies they had observed. These conversations helped deepen their understanding of the universe while nurturing curiosity about space and the mysteries beyond our planet. The session was supported by a team of dedicated demonstrators, whose expertise and equipment made the experience possible. Muhammad Zaeem Ahsan (LUMS) demonstrated observations using the Celestron 11" EdgeHD with CGX mount, while Hira Khalil used the Celestron PowerSeeker 900mm, Roshaan Nadeem operated the Celestron 114 Newtonian Telescope, and Bilal Ahmad (STEM Rover) demonstrated celestial viewing through the Celestron NexStar 8SE Auto Control. Their active guidance helped participants better understand the observations and made the session both educational and engaging. This astronomy activity transformed the school grounds into a space of exploration and wonder, allowing participants to connect directly with the night sky. Through experiences like this, science outreach initiatives continue to inspire curiosity, promote hands-on learning, and encourage young minds to explore the universe with excitement and imagination.
