Responsibilities
As a Science Communicator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of Lahore Science Mela 2023 by actively engaging with different communities, spreading awareness about the event, and fostering participation. Your responsibilities will include:
- Community Outreach: Engage with educational institutions, community centers, NGOs, and other organizations and assist in conducting promotional events to highlight the significance of the Mela and encourage participation.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Establish and maintain strong relationships with local government bodies, sponsors, partners, and relevant stakeholders. Collaborate with them to leverage resources, coordinate logistics, and ensure smooth event operations.
- Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers to support various activities during the event. Assign roles, provide guidance, and create a positive and inclusive environment for volunteers to thrive.
- Public Relations: Act as a liaison between the Lahore Science Mela organizing team and the public. Respond to inquiries, manage social media platforms, and generate engaging content to build excitement and attract a diverse audience.
- Event Promotion: Develop and execute creative marketing strategies to promote Lahore Science Mela 2023 across different platforms, including print media, social media, radio, and television. Collaborate with the marketing team to design eye-catching promotional materials and ensure maximum visibility.
- Post-Event responsibilities: Assist in the planning and management of the event budget, organize and maintain event-related documentation, prepare comprehensive reports summarizing the event’s outcomes and gather feedback from participants, stakeholders, and volunteers to identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations for future editions of the event.
Requirements
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as communications, marketing, social sciences, or any related discipline. A background in science or technology will be considered an asset.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Urdu. Ability to engage with diverse audiences, present ideas effectively, and convey the mission and objectives of Lahore Science Mela.
- Networking Abilities: Strong networking and relationship-building skills to collaborate with various stakeholders, including educational institutions, government bodies, and local communities.
- Event Management: Prior experience in event management or community outreach is preferred. Demonstrated ability to plan and execute events, manage volunteers, and handle logistics effectively.
- Passion for Science: A genuine interest in science, technology, and innovation. Familiarity with the local scientific community and an understanding of the importance of promoting scientific literacy among the general public.
