KSS Receives Seed Grant from Developing Astronomy Globally

Khwarizmi Science Society has won a competitive international seed grant of Euros 1000 from Developing Astronomy Globally.

The focus of Developing Astronomy Globally is on regions that do not already have strong astronomical communities. The implementation is centered on training, development, and networking in each of these three key areas. This is an IYA 2009 Cornerstone project and is using the momentum of the IYA2009 to help establish and enhance regional structures and networks that work on the development of astronomy around the world.

The seed grant is contributing to:

• Publication of literature on astronomy in Urdu
• Purchase of a generator
• Organization of Science Melas with combined macroscopic (astronomical) and microscopic (biological) demonstrations
